The grind for building a base is atrocious, skills are level locked which really limits what you can do, and is honestly annoying. Would be better if they were just skill point locked instead. Furthermore, no matter how good of a base you build, it is basically trash, no point in building anything. Its not a base building survival game anymore. The best thing to do is just level up now, and becomes a zombie grind fest. I would really want to get back into it to test out the electricity stuff, but I just can't with these changes that make everything pointless.. I have over 700 hours on this game. I loved it. Played from the very beginning. When there was almost no elevation change and very little anything. Then A15 came out. Friggin amazing. This is when a majority of my hours with friends were spent. Building, surviving, trying things out. Sure you hit some dull spots but it was fun. A16 came out and added some cool features. Played more. Then the next one came out, A17. Cool buildings and modeling added but I stop there. Laggy frame rates, one little cabin middle of nowhere, 27 zombies. I gained a friggin ton of levels. But I found, that is basically what it turned into. A grind fest. On top of that, the immense huge world, scalewise, went from giant mountains and forests and terrains that gave you a sense of being in a world to...the scale of the original game. Back like single digit Alpha. I have played maybe 4 hours since A17 came out. I refuse to play this garbage. I am pretty close to uninstalling this. Go back to 16 and add features that are in 17.. The developers are truly annoying people who have a disdain for what a majority of people wanted out of this game. A16.4 was superior than A17 and I can recommend it in that state, but not its current build. Roll back to beta and enjoy. Keeping this review negative until I see a change.. This game is really fun! I really enjoy being able to build pretty much whatever I want, with the added tension of regular zombie attacks and zombie waves. It's very addictive, especially when playing with a friend. Some things I wish I could modify in a playthrough is the zombie block damage and prefab spawns. I really like modifying or building off of a prefab home, but as of my last time playing there seems to be no way to prevent zombies spawning from within your base when you do that. I would also like to be able to select an option when creating a new game to severely nerf zombie block damage - I enjoy the challenge of making structurally sound buildings and the idea that just being inside a shack isn't going to save you, but seeing a horde of zombies chew through a concrete building in minutes kind of breaks immersion for me. I'd prefer for this to be selectable when creating a new game to maintain the original system for those who prefer it. It is, of course, possible to turn zombies off altogether, but I do enjoy the tension and challenge they bring to the game and would prefer to leave them on.I love the crafting system and leveling trees - skills all feel very relevant to your everyday problems and it rarely feels like a grind to level them up. Even basic resource gathering is made interesting as you watch the landscape around you change, keep an eye out for zombie ambushes, and manage your limited daylight hours.I've found combat really enjoyable, but am definitely more of a builder than an explorer and prefer to use the environment and my own buildings to give me an advantage during attacks. I also really love how dark it gets at night - you really do have to survive both against the zombies and against the environment in this game.Overall this has been a really enjoyable game. I'm looking forward to see what the developers do with it in the future! As a final note, I would really love to see more NPCs - perhaps a small community that is under threat of collapse, or other survivors that may be hostile or friendly. It would make the trader NPC seem a little less out of place.. Far too many bugs. It pains me to write this, but I've given up on this game. There are so many things it does well, but the game is still littered with game-breaking bugs. For example, I just quit a play session in frustration because my character's temperature kept spiking for no reason. I was in a snow biome, not doing anything except walking, and the temperature kept reaching sweltering. Even after removing my jacket (in a snow biome!), the temperature continued to climb. I wasn't near a heat source or anything. It soon reached over 250 degrees. I had to quit the game and reload, which seemed to fix the issue. After it happened for a third time during this single play session, though, I had to call it quits. The glacially slow pace of updates, the bugs that just never get fixed, and the poor performance tarnish what could be a solid game. I don't recommend this until the developers put some major effort into making the game stable and playable. For now, I'm uninstalling and probably won't reinstall again for the foreseeable future.. I'm going to give you the best possible review I can so you know if this game is worth your money or not. The short answer, maybe. The long answer, below. In this review, I wall talk about my opinion, the pros and cons, and more.7 Days to die has always been a favorite of mine, mainly for the tower defense feel of the game. I play with friends which amps up the fun, and makes the game a little easier. Let's go over the aspects of the game together.GAMEPLAY - 7\/10In this game, you must loot, hunt, farm, and build to survive. The horde night is a thrill to fight through, and looting is a fun part too, but I recommend you increase the loot values in settings because the default value is so low that you find wood clubs in gun crates. Combat feels very unsatisfying. You can shoot at a deer 10 times straight down the sight of a gun and still end up missing. Zombies can stun you, and beat on you like a punching bag. Zombies are a lot scarier because they play dead before waking up and attacking you out of nowhere. Buildings are filled with around 10-30 zombies, making looting dangerous if not prepared. Overall, gameplay if very unique and has it's strengths and weaknesses. GRAPHICS - 5\/10Graphics are much better looking since to Alpha 17 update released. Textures are better than some AAA games like Fallout 4. Overall, the graphics are a mixed bag and are not ugly, but not pretty.AUDIO - 8\/10One of the strong points of this game would have to be the audio. From floors creaking to fat zombies gurgling, this game is pleasant with headphones. PERFORMANCE - 6\/10This game is badly optimized. Even with graphics at lowest settings, I still fall at 15FPS.DIFFICULTY: HARDThis game does not mess around Even on the easiest modes playing with four people, me and my friends still die constantly. Be careful when doing anything, even going to get water can be dangerous.PROS:- Fun for hours- The horde made me pee myself- Nicely crafted open world with secrets around every cornerCONS:Rarely updatedClunky combatRepetitive after awhileBadly optimizedOVERALL - 7\/10The rating would be much worse if I was talking about Alpha 15. If you like zombie games, sandbox games, or survival games, why not try them all in one package?
