About This Game In the jungles of the Underland, scattered remnants of an ancient culture speak of a great evil that dwells in the shadowy depths of the Kwayerumoshi caves. In the final chapter of The Journey Down, Bwana, Kito and Lina explore the vast reaches of the Underland and unravel its long-forgotten history. Their adventure comes to a bombastic conclusion when they learn the true nature of the Great Asili tree and the Armando Power Company. The Journey Down is a classic point-and-click saga with an Afro-Caribbean vibe. That was awesome! Great end to a great series (or will there be more?). The puzzles weren't as involved as the 2nd chapter, but were integrated well into the story. Fun characters. Superb soundtrack. Good story and man, what a ride! The end had me grinning ear from ear! I just want to thank Skygoblin for creating such a wonderful experience. You guys are the best!. Chapter three is a fitting end to the trilogy. If you liked the first two, you'll like this one. Art, music, and voice acting remain just as strong. The puzzles seemed much easier this time around––I was never stuck for more than fifteen minutes or so. This might be a good thing as inventory-based puzzle games can be illogical. While there were some clearly "absurd" solutions, it was always clear what to do. For the third game, it would have been nice to have had some harder non-inventory based puzzles. (For the record, I did have to look up some hints for both the first two chapters). The story is satisfying yet holds no real surprises. Although everything wraps up nicely (in a climax not unlike a certain Star Trek movie, but the tone is far more appropriate here) it felt a bit rushed. It's just as long as the previous chapters, but there are so many story beats to cover that it feels at times that we're playing an abridged version of the storyline. I would have liked to have seen a bit more interaction and more dialog options among some of the heroes and villains in the endgame. My biggest complaint is in the Underland itself: for all the buildup in the first two parts, it was a bit too generic-paradisey. I enjoy The Journey Down for its unique setting and characters, but the Underland itself didn't live up to the rest of the game, and it was a much more minor part of this chapter than I thought it was going to be.I hope I'm not making the story sound worse than it it is. They are really minor issues all things considered, and TLJ remains my favorite of the new Lucas-style adventures that we've seen in the past few years. I certainly enjoyed it more than, say, Broken Age (and it felt much more complete than that game). I hope many people buy it so SkyGoblin can do something much more substantial next time around.. Honest gaming. A dev team poured all their love into this and the entire series is an incredibly entertaining experience. I hope Skygoblin will create many more games but even if they don't (or can't), they made a lasting gem in the point-and-click genre that is so dear to me...Thanks Skygoblin!. Felt much shorter and simpler than the other two games. Wish we had more time in the Underland after the other two segments had been spent hyping it up. Once we left the city, the ending, plot, character dev, etc all began feeling rushed.. Too easy puzzles. And I usually don't say this about point and click games. But I just walked this one trough.- Bit a downer to wait a long time for episode three thinking that you'll get to explore some ancient world and then the part 3 is 70% in the city.- 90% of the voice acting was ok, but some parts were just terrible. Also I liked the original demo graphics better. Sometimes too much polishing is not a good thing.. The Journey Down is a really cute stylish point and click adventure episodic game with unique Afro-Caribbean vibe and some stylistic influence from Grim Fandango. It's a bit reminiscent of LucasArts games in gameplay too, though with a more simplified interface of just one contextual verb (usually Use or Look at) per mouse click and drag and drop for item usage. It uses the realtime characters with often beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds to create the feel of a CGI movie which works really well in most cases, especially by Chapter Three where art often gets a lot of really amazing (non-interactive) detail.Chapter Three feels the most refined out of them all. The puzzles are mostly well done, the art is stunningly good, the voice acting is the best of them all, the writing is better while the music is at its best. Yet... it still suffers from a lot of problems of the Chapter Two. There are several instances where you might have a bunch of items on you, a bunch of places opened up, yet no clear logical path to take due to how badly the game sometimes presents problems and solutions. It's less annoying than in the previous chapter, but still can become annoying. What's far worse than the previous chapter is how the story takes huge leaps through entire plot points and character development. Characters meet, become friends and join to save the world in a matter of just an hour, without any of that ever feeling as important as it should be. So you mostly go through motions over the course of under 3 hours while enjoying the mood and the sound of the game.Whenever you should check Chapter Three or not really depends on if you can enjoy Chapter One for what it is, as the game never truly evolves past that. It remains oddly swift in the plot, awkward in writing, but absolutely stunning in terms of music and visuals. I enjoyed playing through this episodic title throughout the years enough, but I'm hard pressed to actually recommend it to anyone, especially now when we have such a wonderful variety of point and click adventures to pick from. That said, I can't simply dismiss the title either, as it's definitely worth at least checking.. I read a bunch of "meh" reviews and I think that helped me have a positive experience with this game. This has the same charm as the other two chapters, but unfortunately you are back in the city for most of the game rather than exploring the underland, which is odd considering the title of the game... Still it's the usual fun with an outlandishly epic conclusion that you'll probably either love or hate. Personally I enjoyed this chapter the most. The first one felt too small and clausterphobic, while the second one was a bit exhausting... maybe I was just in a mood. Despite being longer, this chapter felt jussst right. I think the variety of locations really helped the pacing. There are lots of pros and cons that we could delve into, but I don't think the game warrants it. You probably have a good sense of what you're in for. It's a very middle of the road game, but I do think it falls on the positive side.Oh, and do get the bundle, especially if you already bought the other chapters. It's always a better discount.. I'm not sure how I feel about this game? I loved Bwana. He remained the same, as hilarious as ever. And the cactus! But....the game, overall, felt less challenging then the other two. Only two parts really stumped me-the islands with Lena and the microphone bit with Bwana. That in itself isn't enough to make the game that bad but....(cons)-There's a moment when someone is talking about cops and they say "police beastiality." ....Was that purposeful? Or was it supposed to say "brutality"? Cause if that was purposeful, that's cool....-This game was released a month late. But the graphics weren't quite there. At least 3 characters didn't fit with the surroundings. They didn't look right, they didn't look like the background or other characters. Apart from being different, they also looked bad. 2 were the juice ladies, and 1 was the dad (I can't spell his name) when he was with Lena. At one point he was fuzzy as all get out.-Also on the island there was a quite clear distortion in pixels, down a straight line (when you'd sail away.)-There was a lag on most of the cut scenes, it was really skippy. Kinda like an unbuffered streamed movie.I'm not a computer person, so I don't know if these are just my computer and the way it downloaded (the skipping and the weird island distortion line), or actual problems with the game.Another thing that bothered me in this game was incomplete actions and animation felt rough. For instance: When Bwana and Kito are climbing into the chain thing, you don't get to see them hop in. Bwana says "lets go!" and it cuts to them already being in it (which I think takes away from possible fun moments). Or the elevator shaft with Gabi, Bwana is by the open door way, and then it cuts to their both safe. That's just two examples. Cut scene to action was also rough. And one moment I thought was really bad was in the rubble, the rocker and gabi were on the ground and then Bwana pops in frame. Like if he was supposed to be under a rubble pile, that wasn't there either. It was two people in frame and then he popped right in, as opposed to if he had been under rubble already there. It was two people and then POP! Bwana was there too.So for an extra month, there are a lot of rough graphics. Pros:-the people were cool. I couldn't believe Rose existed. I thought I had misunderstood what her job was. Nope. -the cussing startled me. Maybe it shouldn't have. I guess I'm used to games like Nancy Drew.-Bwana and the cactus-Getting to see Bwanas dad.-I didn't get stuck forever in this game like the last two. I guess it was just a lot easier. That's a win/lose.-I adored the scenery though.Overall, I'd say wait for any kind of sale for this game and that it's a little behind the first two games, overall polish and in terms of enjoyment. But it's worth playing!. A really good point and click games final chapter. Game length is nice and short, they don't throw many nonsense riddles like some earliere point and click games do. Soundtracks also well worth a listen!. Beautiful adventure game. The puzzles are laid back and easy, but very fun and inventive. Not for the hard core puzzle solver, but a very nice smooth ride through a good story with great graphics, animations and music! The two former parts are great as well, but this episode really shines in all aspects (but still, play the others first for the full story)!
